The Wonder Stuff, Holmfirth
(featuring The Wonder Stuff)
Venue: Holmfirth Picturedrome
Last year saw The Wonder Stuff celebrate it’s 30th anniversary. Yes, 30 years since the band’s very first rehearsal in the heart of The Black Country. To celebrate their longevity the band toured Holland, Japan and the UK (twice), headlined no less than 10 festivals and saw themselves back in the top 30 with new album ’30 Goes Around The Sun’. 2017 sees the band play a handful of dates in the UK and Europe before releasing a huge live anthology of recordings in a special boxset in November.
This West Midlands-based band gained a significant following in the late 1980s with two critically acclaimed albums, 'The Eight Legged Groove Machine' and 'Hup'. Mainstream chart success followed with their third album in 1991, which included the hits 'The Size of a Cow', and 'Dizzy' performed with Vic Reeves. The band split in 1994, but after a seven year sabbatical, they reformed and continue to play their old numbers, along with new material.
