There aren’t many bands who can have their videos played on MTV2 and also have real ales named after them but there also aren’t many bands like The Lancashire Hotpots.
The Lancashire Hotpots take comedic observations of the trappings of modern day life (Sat Navs, meeting women on the internet and Shopmobility Scooters) added some infectious melodies and in doing so have created a cult musical sensation enjoyed by young and old alike. Their live shows are akin to a ‘Northern knees up’ where singing, drinking and having fun are equally important for both the audience and band alike.
“You won’t find another band like this, I promise!”
BBC R2 Steve Lamacq
With over a million MySpace plays to date, the lads have attracted national radio play and support from BBC R2 from Chris Evans and BBC R2 and BBC 6 Music with Steve Lamacq. Because of their no nonsense approach to comedy and fun, the band have quickly acquired a massive national following. In 2008 the band supported ardent fan Paddy McGuinness on his ‘Paddy McGuinness Plus You’ tour and last year they graced not one but two stages at the Glastonbury Festival with Steve Lamacq naming them as one of his top 5 Glastonbury moments for 2009.
With three successful albums behind them, a live DVD and an EP to follow in early 2010, the Lancashire Hotpots continue to draw massive crowds and national support from all quarters of the musical spectre.
