The Picturedrome are delighted to announce a very special festival warm up show by Yorkshire's finest metal band - SAXON
 
with 8 UK Top 40 albums in the 1980s including 4 UK Top 10 albums and numerous singles in the Top 20 singles chart Saxon established themselves as one of Europe's biggest metal acts, they also had success in Japan and in the USA. In Japan, the single "Motorcycle Man" stayed in the charts for over 5 months. Saxon have sold more than 13 million albums worldwide and can proudly say they were major influences many bands including Metallica and Megadeth.

SAXON isn’t wasting any time in 2018. Following the critically acclaimed release of ‘Battering Ram’ in 2015, the heavy metal giants have released their 22 nd studio album ‘Thunderbolt’ via the Militia Guard label (Silver Lining Music) which reached the Top 30 in the official UK charts this February, at No 29 it’s their highest chart position since 1984’s ‘Crusader’ album. Now they have announced Part 2 of the Thunderbolt Tour, with Part 1 selling out, SAXON will bring their iconic live show to more cities across the UK. SAXON will be joined by special guests the legendary American rockers Y&T and Wayward Sons. Biff Byford “We’re gonna be bringing the tour back into the UK and Europe in the Autumn, playing some classic venues with some classic bands….it’s going to be special – BRING IT ON!” Since the 1970s Saxon have shown their ability to take rock ‘n’ roll and give it an electrifying edge which has since cemented their status as pioneers of the British heavy metal wave. With over twenty studio albums under their belt, SAXON has made their steadfast dedication to creating a dynamic body of a work a staple of their career. The new album Thunderbolt features original Artwork by long time Saxon collaborator Paul Raymond Gregory. “This is album 22 and it's called Thunderbolt.
