Seth Lakeman

Seth Lakeman, widely regarded as the UKs foremost folk singer songwriter, has announced a UK tour in February and March 2012 with his superbly talented band.

Seth will be playing tracks from his previous studio albums plus some brand new songs from his album Tales From The Barrel House which is out now. Recorded at Morwellham Quay in Devon, Seth has not only written, sung and played all the instruments on every track on the new album but hes also recorded and mixed the whole album himself. Seth says he has enjoyed this recording project like no other.  Ive been really keen for some time to get right back to the basics of Kitty Jay (the £300 kitchen-table album that shot him to fame and won him a Mercury Music Prize nomination back in 2005).

To be blunt, this is the type of album I could never have done with a major label. Im grateful for having worked in some of the best-equipped studios and with top producers, but with this record Ive felt completely free to do my own thing for the first time in years.” In keeping with this independent spirit, Tales from the Barrel House has been released through his own Honour Oak Records, and is only available to buy from Seths website as a strictly limited deluxe digipak with each copy individually numbered.

Tales From The Barrel House underlines Seths inate knack for writing both foot-stomping, sing-along songs and more tender, thoughtful ballads. His playing is often breathtaking and Seths trademark, soaring vocals are at the forefront of this album, as beguiling and haunting as ever. Charismatic, full of passionate energy and giving voice to people from the past, "Tales from the Barrel House" will entrance and enthrall a growing army of present-day fans and, undoubtedly, will also be discovered by lovers of heartfelt music – discerning folk – of the future.
