David Ford

In March 2011 it was ten years since the 22 year old David Ford gave up his job at Our Price Records in Eastbourne and became a full time musician and songwriter. To mark this, mostly ignored anniversary, Ford set about writing and publishing a book "I Choose This - how to nearly make it in the music industry" which tells how, through a simple refusal to ever accept defeat, he has survived and paid all his bills without ever troubling the mainstream or doing more than fingertip the hem of success.

However, his determination and undoubted talent, means he can now, in 2011, sell out significant dates across the UK, the USA and Canada.

His recent US tour saw him driving himself and his complex and mostly self made set of equipment from Boston to Austin via his beloved Philadelphia & New York, through tornado torn Memphis and sun drenched Dallas, to play sold out shows to his devoted American fanbase, many of whom drove for hours to get to their nearest performance.

Prior to heading to the States and by way of launching his book in the UK, Ford set about doing a 'reading & singing' UK tour in April, selling out shows and delighting his audience with his witty and idiosyncratic sense of self deprecation coupled to that steely self belief that has kept him moving forward all these years.

The first 1500 copies of the book sold out in 4 weeks. The book has initially only been available from Ford's merchandise website and at his gigs but the plan is now to find a mainstream publisher and see if it can't find a wider audience.

The summer of 2011 will see Ford mixing his soon to be released 'Live in New York City - May 2011' mini album and preparing for a "dirty stripped down three piece rock n roll" tour of the UK in September.

These forthcoming UK dates will see Ford debut-ing new songs and reworking some of his older material within the exciting discipline of the classic 'electric guitar, bass and drums turned up really loud' format.

Never one to artistically stand still or deliver the same show year after year, this forthcoming UK tour will be something different again from David Ford; a fitting way for him to start his second decade as a full time working musician and songwriter.
