The Gig Cartel - Venues: York The Duchess

On foot, head for the centre (on this map we are in the top corner of EE4) and find the main Marks & Spencers, the one with the food hall. We are fifty yards down on the left hand side; go up the ramp just after Halifax Building Society.  You\'ll pass Jorvik Cafe and our front door is next to The Job Centre.  YOU MUST QUEUE TO THE RIGHT OF THE FRONT DOORS AS YOU LOOK AT THEM - thank you.

Arriving by rail, we recommend getting a taxi from the station.  The cabbies are very friendly unless you remind them that under an ancient local bylaw it is still legal to relieve yourself against their rear offside wheel - as long as they have a bale of hay in the boot.  Anyways, the fare should be about £4 and that\'s far better than missing the show whilst you get lost wandering around our little streets.

In a car, street parking is very limited although nearby you could try Fossgate/Walmgate which is accessed from The Stonebow (the street we\'re on) in between a pub called The Terrace and an Army & Navy Stores.  If you have SatNav our postcode is YO1 7NP.  Amongst the council car parks we recommend Castle Car Park (Tower Street) as it\'s well-lit and overlooked by occupied buildings.

If you\'re collecting somebody from the venue after a show, please do not stop on the street - even temporarily.

For the nearest taxi rank which is two minutes away, please turn LEFT as you exit the venue doors and turn right after the Halifax Building Society.  If you wish to call from the venue, we have a list on display or the staff can advise.
